Sungai Buloh Artifacts

According to anthropologist Daniel Miller, objects "continually assert their presence as simultaneously material force and symbol. They frame the way we act in the world, as well as the way we think about the world. To understand the past, we have to understand the artifacts of the past." This album shows some important artifacts owned by former leprosy patients. We believe artifacts mean many things: they capture special moments, reflect changes, connect people and tell their own stories. They are the touchstones that bring memories and meanings to life. They make the history of Sungai Buloh real. This 1930s picture shows a deceased inmate's medical treatment board.
